Happy Halloween! Can you believe it? Only 61 days left in 2016!? Which means there's still time to make a change in 2016 and I'm going to do it! I've committed to doing Shaun T's INSANITY and I can't wait to start! Tomorrow is day 1 of 60! And I'm going to document the whole dang thing.
Today Violet and I sat down after carving pumpkins and made our calendars. You gotta have a plan if you're going to succeed. The best part was looking at it wondering which workout was going to fall on Thanksgiving and Christmas! There's something totally super awesome knowing while everyone else is sleeping, I'm up and getting it done. I always feel so accomplished, like I'm one step ahead of everyone. It might sound crazy but it works for me and that's all that matters. #gottafindyourmotivation
So tomorrow it begins! I've taken my "before" photos. I've got my "before" measurements. INSANITY starts off strong with a FIT TEST, it's 30 minutes long and that's your workout for the day. I will do 5 FIT TEST's throughout the 60 days to see how I progress. Basically you do things like, Switch Kicks, Power Jacks, Power Knees and Suicide Jumps.....WAIT WHAT?! WTF did I get myself into?? It's 1 minute of each. So maybe I'll do 20 in a minute, and the ones with the word Suicide in it....Uh let's hope for more than 1 or 2 in that minute. Either way I'm going to attempt it all.
Tonight we'll be Trick or Treating, lighting our Cullen inspired Jack O Lantern's, (Did you get that reference? #Twillightforever) & eating some pumpkin pasta! We're doing it right this Halloween!
Tips To Survive Halloween:
1. Drink your Shakeology before trick or treating, it'll help curb your candy cravings.
2. Have a glass of wine before going out, it counts as 1 yellow and let's face it, as parents, we need it.
3. Enjoy it! It's one night a year and our kiddo's are so dang cute! And if they're like mine, they'll say "Trick or Treat, Smell my feet..." I was like??? Where'd you learn that? Turns out its in one of the books we read. #Momfail
But they're only little once.
There is nothing more miserable than being sick. Nothing leaves you more helpless and vulnerable then a miserable cold. Dr's practically laugh at you when you walk in their doors and then they say something stupid like, "It just has to run it's course." I swear if I hear that one more time!
So basically it's up to me and my body to get through it. 5-10 days huh? Here we go! I'm currently on day 4 and am literally drowning myself in liquids. This is where Starbucks is my best friend! Yep, those are all four me! (see what I did there?) 2 Trenta green tea's - no classic, a small coffee, and a sick tea.
Sick tea is the greatest thing on earth. It's a mix of 2 mint tea bags, one packet of honey, and get this...steamed lemonade! Who knew? The lemonade does something super magical to your throat as it goes down. It's quite amazing actually. I'm not sure if this is a well known Starbucks recipe? Or if the gals at my Starbucks just know how to take care of their customers. Either way I love them and it!
Normally I can blame my husband or my toddler for getting me sick. In this case, I'm the only one who's got it in the family. Even my dogs are rocking' it. So I can only blame it on stress, lack of sleep and 2 days/nights of giving in to all the sugary treats, oily gross food and 2 beers that comes with prepping for a Halloween party, full of kids, at your home. Now, I'm a realist, I know that the 2 beers didn't contain the flu virus, but....maybe had my body had the proper nutrients it could've had a better fighting chance.
Since I've been on my new lifestyle journey I've noticed so many positive changes. I sleep so much better, I crave greens & protein. I've cut back on my, "I'm just gonna have one after work drink." Although I do love my martini's and wine, I haven't craved them. If anything I save them for a special occasion like date night, or hanging up HO-HO lights for the Halloween party, or holy cow 12 kids under the age of 5 and their parents are about to walk through my door. #NEED. You know, the special times. It always seems to get me through.
Lesson learned. I can't wait to get back to my routine. I'm missing my weights and Cize -ing it up with Shaun T. I miss checking off my blue, reds, yellows and green's on the 21 day fix app. Most of all I miss hugging and snuggling with my daughter. I'm so ready to get back to being me!
A letter to myself:
You owe it to yourself to never forget your experience at Miraval. You are radiant! Every day should feel like that Tuesday morning after your treadmill and abs, walking by the stream. Shout to the world "It's great to be alive! I'm so happy to be alive!" Always feel like this!
Now get your ass to the gym, eat for your body and not your taste buds and above all else, live in the present. Tomorrow is not here yet. Be "mindful" of this and say it everyday. It's your life and your life only. You deserve the best. Now make it happen!
Love You Beautiful! Your Fabulous Self,
Miraval, in Tucson Arizona is quite a special place. After your time there they encourage you to write a letter to yourself that they mail to you 3 months later. They say it's to remind yourself of, well, exactly what I wrote. That feeling of happiness, a reminder of that stress free environment, your desire to recreate it everyday in your life, and what you truly took away from that experience.
I keep it in my drawer at work as a reminder. But, of course, life happened and a whole bunch of stuff got put on top of it. Talk about a total metaphor! Having forgotten about it, it was a breath of fresh air to re-read it today. I can now say that I've found that happiness again these last 47 days of my new life. (And my drawer is now clutter free!)
Physical fitness & eating right has me zeroed in to me, ME! For once it's about me. Even if it is only a few hours in the morning, it's mine and no one can take it away from me. #grateful
This letter is from July 26, 2015. I was definitely due for a change.
